Nonprofits groups, such as the Boy Scouts, hold tree drives in some sections of Snohomish County immediately after the holidays.  Check your local papers for details.  If you subscribe to yard debris service, you can also put your tree out for compositing.  Check with your garbage hauler for requirements.  Unflocked trees with lights, decorations, and tinsel removed are accepted for composting at Snohomish County Solid Waste Facilities.  Trees that are decorated, flocked, or treated with fire retardant must be discarded as garbage.
