Recyclopedia: Egg Cartons

Egg Cartons

Clean egg cartons are welcomed by many farmersí market vendors and some independent grocery stores, health food stores and day care centers. Most of the egg cartons now on the market are made of molded pulp; they are recyclable at your recycling depot or mixed with the cardboard and boxboard you put out at the curb for recycling. Finally, if you tear these pulp-type egg cartons into tiny pieces they can be composted. Eventually, they may form part of the feedstock of bio-digesters, or perhaps recycled into other pulp products. Styrofoam (polystyrene) egg cartons can be recycled in municipal recycling programs. In general, choose reduce over reuse, and reuse over recycled. For 101 craft projects with egg cartons visit: http://www.hwdsb.on.ca/tailslap/funstuff/crafts/eggcartn.htm
