Recyclopedia: Batteries

Batteries

Automotive batteries contain toxic heavy metals and acids that can cause serious environmental problems when they are disposed of with regular garbage. Automotive batteries are accepted for recycling at the Regional Transfer Station in Port Angeles.

Rechargeable batteries can also be recycled at participating battery and department stores when they are no longer rechargeable. Call 1-800-8-Battery for a list of locations or go to www.call2recycle.org.

Around Again is the only location in Clallam County recycling alkaline (household A, AA, etc) batteries.

Some local jewelers take back watch batteries for recycling, and some hearing aid clinics accept hearing aid batteries. We’re looking for information on who takes back batteries in our community. Please contact us if you have information.
